ACM Special Achievement Award
The Academy of Country Music will award George Strait a Special Achievement Award during the Awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 21. Another Nomination!
The Academy of Country Music has announced the final nominees for their 38th Annual Awards. George is up for Top Male Vocalist, against Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw. Tune in to CBS on Wednesday, May 21st as Reba McEntire hosts the awards from Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas. Check local listings.

George Makes History!
Nashville, TN --- February 25, 2003 --- The legendary George Strait made history late last week when his album The Road Less Traveled was officially certified Platinum. With the certification, Strait passed Kenny Rogers as the second best selling country artist in history.
With a total of 26 Platinum albums and 50 #1 hits, Strait’s career continues to gain steam.
His latest effort on MCA Nashville, For The Last Time: Live From The Astrodome debuted at #2 on the country charts and #7 on the pop charts. The album is Strait’s 30th album on MCA and his first ever live album containing eight of his #1 hits.
The live album documents his appearance at the Astrodome last March. A DVD of the recording is due in stores next week on March 4th.

A Real Cowboy
George has been inducted to the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. In good company, he joins cowboy legends such as World Champion Bull Riders Don Gray and Tuff Hedeman.

Roping Schedule
Next year's George Strait Team Roping Team Roping Classic has been set for March 14th and 15th at the Rose Palace in San Antonio. The 20th annual event that took place this past March was the biggest in the classic's 20-year history. Moving the event from July to March proved to be a major reason for the increased interest. It's hot in San Antonio during July, which is also a time that many ropers are working in the Pacific Northwest. George says, quote, I had no idea, really, that changing the dates on it would increase the teams so much. I was really surprised, but I'm really glad because the payout was phenomenal.
